My bikes

Simplon Pride (2011)

I got this 6,85 kg full carbon Simplon Pride in 2011 in Austria. It's equipped with SRAM Force group and Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels. I really enjoyed the bike so far. Some 12,000 km and still looking forward each time. I prefer the SRAM to the Shimano groupset on my other bike. The only drawback are the Mavic wheels. Already now they show little cracks at two spoke holes. For the price I would have expected better, even on Belgian roads.

Update March 2014: The new Planet X Carbon wheels arrived! Looks even better now ;-)

Trek 1.7 (2010)

Aluminum frame with carbon fork. Shimano 105 groupset which is not great but does the job at a low price. The Bontrager wheels are shitty. Very heavy and already 5 spokes broke so far. Overall I should have known better and invested a bit more in 2010, that's why I bought the Simplon a year after. However, the Trek is now my winter and bad weather bike. I put some lights on it and can now even go cycling after work in winter. Since I don't care too much for the bike I also don't mind riding on winter and wet roads. And the 105 groupset is undestroyable (but heavy as well).

Basso Loto (1995)

My very first road bike. This year it has changed its looks substantially when I finally converted it into my city bike for Brussels. Only the (steel)frame and the wheels are still original, the rest is all new and adapted to city cycling. Still I have good memories. It took me up Grossglockner and around my first Ronde van Vlaanderen in 2008. And still there is something about steel frames that carbon will never have.
